RIVER TOURS

RIVER TOURS AND CRUISES

On a foggy morning in New Orleans, when all the stern-wheelers and paddle wheelers are tied up at the dock, it seems as though you’ve traveled back in time to 1850. Today, authentic replicas of the paddle wheelers once again cruise the Mississippi. Some cruises have specific destinations like the zoo or Chalmette, while others just cruise the river and harbor without stopping. Below are some of the more popular Boat Tours in town.

Steamboat Natchez
Toulouse St. Wharf,
New Orleans
(504) 586-8777
http://www.steamboatnatchez.com

See the beauty of New Orleans on an unforgettable cruise down the Mississippi aboard the authentic sternwheeler steamboat Natchez. Daily two-hour cruises depart from the Toulouse Street Wharf next to Jackson Brewery in the French Quarter at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Cruises feature a professional narration, an optional Creole lunch and live jazz by the "Steamboat Stompers." A nightly (seasonal) dinner/jazz cruise at 7 p.m. offers an elegant buffet, prepared fresh on board, and features the "Dukes of Dixieland" jazz band. Reservations requested. Major credit cards accepted.

John James Audubon

(Aquarium of the Americas Dock; 504-586-8777)
The riverboat offers a one-hour Aquarium/Zoo cruise that travels four times daily between the Aquarium of the Americas in Woldenberg Park and the Audubon Zoological Garden in Audubon Park. Call for reservations.

Creole Queen and riverboat Cajun Queen
(Canal Street Dock/Aquarium Dock; 504-524-0814)

The paddle wheeler cruises the Mississippi daily, passing the French Quarter, plantations, battlefields and other attractions: enjoy nightly dinner/jazz cruises with a Creole buffet. Call for reservations.
