of the Americas
Canal St. (At the Mississippi
River)
(504) 861-2537
Located on the Mississippi River Bank across the street from Harrah’s Casino just outside the French Quarter, the Aquarium of the Americas is a nice refuge (especially if you’ve got the kids with you) to get away from the social intensity that makes New Orleans so great. Affiliated with the John J. Audubon Zoological Gardens, the aquarium is one of the most prominent in the world, featuring more than 15,000 specimens of fish, birds and reptiles that can be observed in a pseudo-natural habitat.
